We ran down the corridor. Smooth stone
floors, brick walls, I can hear the flip flop of our shoes as we run as fast as
we could down the hall. Wind whipping through my eyes and ears. I can hear my
brothers breathing, it was irregular hyperventilating unnatural, . I look back
and see him turn the corner right behind us. I stop and shoot at him, red fire
cracks out of my wand as I sent out a desperate shot. He, strafes. “keep
running!!” he shoots green at me, I can
feel the evil eradiating in the room as his shot gets closer. I deflect then I turn
to see my brother stopped. He turned around at the sound of my deflection as it
hit a wall exploding parts of it. Shrapnel hitting me and my brother on our
head and shoulders. The fear in his eyes is far too great. He was pale. His
brown skin was no white, almost transparent. “run dammit!” as I shove him
forward to get his feet moving. I fire back my red without looking to buy us
some time.
He flinched as a shot flew over his head
and cracked more brick and dust on us.
Damn. How did this happen. We see the
light at the end of the tunnel and the light. I cant see outside, only bright
light searing our retinas. I turn back once more to see him gone into the
darkness. Uh oh that’s not good.as I turn back I notice we are outside What
ever, we kept running. We hear the hustling and bustling of the city. I cant
see anything. as my eyes adjust to the light I reach for my brother and pull
him to the alley right next to the building. “this way!” if we can make it to
then end of the alley we should be safe. I ran ahead of him. We ran as fast as
we could. Running into the darkness once again. It consumes us. I light up so
see. The position of holding the light up slowed me down. As we ran it slowly
began to light up, I couldn’t see the other side behind us. This street is
empty, dead quiet. We only hear our breathing, and we see our breathes. It was
cold.
“this way” a familiar female voice says.
We turn and I am filled with relief. “lets go” I said as I grabbed my bothers
arm pulling him towards a building. We go into a building and down the stairs.
“wait here” she told me. I wait at the door. I turn back to see my brother to
safety. He was at the bottom of the stairs. To brick walls and stairs are
mesmerizing, like looking at a mirror through a mirror, never ending bottom to
the darkness. My breathe is sucked out of me, like the vacuum of space after
opening an airlock, I cant believe what
I am seeing. How was it possible. He was no where near us. We were gone and
hidden from him. How? I see him at the bottom of the stairs, my brother unaware
of whats going on. I see the snare on
his face as he aims at my brothers back. He looks up at me, wand still aiming
and glowing green. Pauses, smirks, opens
his mouth but I cant hear his words. Im too late. I react, aim my wand but wait
I don’t move. I gasp as I come to reality
I
see once again my brother and her trotting down the stairs. I sigh a relief.
He’ll be safe for now. I follow them down the stairs. As I study my feet and
the stairs as I go down, I realize I am at the bottom. I turn to the right, and
down a corridor. There were rooms, with doors. The doors all were green and had
a viewing window on them. Everything was in uniform, same color same
everything. As if it was a background in a cartoon that doesn’t change. It seemed never ending. A door closed. I run
to it. It must have been 25 doors down. I open it. And I see him, wand in hand,
the look of death. He was pale and uncovered. His hood was down his robe was
black. His eyes were pure black, his skin was pale, very unnatural ,dead. He
slowly raised his arm and aimed right at
me. His face turned into a sneer, then to a leer. I can see the frustration in
his eyes and body language. He gives out a loud yell that I cant hear, his
voice was muted but I can feel it. I smile at his frustrated face, “good luck
finding him” I said as everything turned green, then black.
